Answers to Common Construction Questions

Building a pool is a major project, and it’s normal to have questions about how the process works. This Installation FAQ page addresses common questions we hear from homeowners—covering everything from site preparation and timeline expectations to what happens after construction. Our goal is to keep you informed and confident throughout the journey. If you have a question that isn’t answered here, please contact us—we’re here to help.

Planning & Preparation

Before We Break Ground

Yes. Most municipalities require permits for pool construction. Pools of Fun will handle the permitting process, ensuring your project complies with local building and safety codes.

We assess yard size, slope, soil conditions and accessibility. We’ll also identify underground utilities and determine the best pool placement in relation to sun exposure, drainage and existing structures.

Pool type (fiberglass, vinyl, BioDesign), weather conditions, permit approvals, site challenges and the complexity of design can all influence timeline. We provide an estimated schedule during your consultation.

Clear the construction area of furniture, toys and plants, and remove any obstacles that might impede access. If necessary, we’ll coordinate temporary fence removal or tree trimming.

You’ll need to be available for certain decisions and walkthroughs, but you don’t need to be on-site every day. We communicate progress regularly and let you know when your presence is required.

During Construction

What to Expect While We Build

It varies by pool type. In general, fiberglass pools take 6–12 weeks to install, vinyl pools around 8–12 weeks, and BioDesign pools may take longer depending on custom features and landscaping.

There will be excavation and heavy machinery on-site, which can disturb landscaping. We take care to minimize disruption and will inform you of any trees, plants or structures that may need moving or replacing.

Inclement weather can delay excavation, concrete pouring or curing. We monitor forecasts and adjust schedules accordingly, updating you on any impacts to the timeline.

Minor changes may be possible, but major modifications may delay the project and add costs. We recommend finalizing design details before breaking ground.

Expect noise from excavation equipment, trucks and power tools. We adhere to local ordinances regarding work hours and aim to minimize disturbance.

We conduct thorough site assessments, but sometimes issues like unstable soil or hidden utilities are discovered. We’ll discuss options and cost implications with you before proceeding.

Post‑Installation & Start‑Up

After Construction Is Complete

Once construction is finished, we fill your pool, balance the water and test equipment. Depending on type, you may be able to swim within a day or two of filling. We’ll let you know the exact timing.

Yes. During startup, we explain equipment operation, maintenance tasks and water chemistry basics. We also offer ongoing maintenance services if you prefer professional care.

Pool shells, liners and equipment come with manufacturer warranties. Our workmanship is also warranted. We’ll provide documentation and explain coverage during your final walkthrough.

We backfill excavated areas and grade your yard, but additional landscaping—like sod replacement, plant installation or new hardscaping—is typically not included. We can recommend landscapers or provide quotes for these services if desired.

Absolutely. We can design and install features like spas, waterfalls, lighting, outdoor kitchens and more, whether as part of the initial project or a future upgrade.

General Installation Questions

Additional Information

Fiberglass pools usually have the quickest installation because the shell arrives pre‑formed and ready to install.

We generally install pools spring through fall. Cold weather and frozen ground in winter can prevent excavation and concrete work. We plan projects to minimize weather-related delays.

Consider aesthetics, maintenance, budget and safety. Concrete (stamped or plain) is durable and cost-effective; pavers offer repair flexibility and variety; natural stone delivers a high-end look.

Possibly. Heaters, pumps and lighting may require electrical or gas connections. We’ll assess your existing utilities and coordinate necessary upgrades.

Contact us immediately. Our team will assess the issue, determine if it’s covered under warranty and provide repairs or guidance.
